Court System Poster

I love infographics. A well-designed, fact-checked infographic is a great way to make information attractive, digestible, and memorable. I’ve been interested in practicing making infographics, but I wanted to make something useful, with actual data and real constraints, rather than just making something up. Since I have lots of friends in the social justice/law/organizing worlds, I put out a call on Facebook to see if anybody had any data I could visualize, and I got a couple of bites.

The first one is this illustration of the structure of the federal courts, made for a friend at the Constitutional Accountability Center in DC. The idea was to make immediately clear the huge power that the Supreme and Circuit Courts hold over the smaller courts, which I think this design accomplishes simply and effectively. It will be printed as a small, glossy card with their organizational branding on the reverse side, to be left behind after congressional office visits.
